Asuka Red Tanto Knife

Asuka Red Tanto Knife

This 17 1/2" overall Tanto produced for Samurai warriors is hand forged out of 1060 high carbon steel with real wood handles. The Tanto in Japanese culture was used as a "harakiri" weapon if the Samurai Warrior brought shame to their Family name. In popular culture today, the Tanto is used for self-defense and for home décor. The tanto blade design is also very popular for tactical knives; numerous tactical knives now feature it. Our tanto is a work of art. The beautifully designed blade features a real hamon and a false edge along its spine, giving it a unique appearance.

A unique feature on the blade is the integrated Bo-Hi. Bo-Hi is commonly known as blood grooves, but that is a common misconception. The purpose of the Bo-Hi is to help reduce the weight of the katana; it actually has nothing to do with channeling the blood. Making the Katana lighter enables the user to wield the katana better and puts less stress on the hands. Not to mention, it benefits some advanced cutting techniques that require the katana to change direction rapidly.

A perfect balance of elegance and functionality, It will make a perfect gift or as an addition to your collection. Included with this Tanto is a Deluxe Gift Box and Certificate of Authenticity. Each Tanto is individually numbered on the tang.
